Last weekend 5 of our swimmers went to Kilbirnie Pool in Wellington to contest the Nationals. Fiona Grigg, Mark Cowling, Mike Harrison, Avy Judelson and Deryn McGregor had a very successful competition. Between them they won 11 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze medals; that's 22 medals total. Not a bad haul for 5 swimmers! 3 of them got very close to national records but, alas, will have to wait for the next meet for more attempts.
As usual, the team did well in relays, especially the 4 x 50 mixed freestyle being not overly far off the record in their age group there either and beating out all others including younger teams.
Not surprisingly, John T was seconded as an official and was a superb marshal throughout the meet. John G was a magnificent supporter and chief photographer. If you want to check out some photos there are a few posted over on the gallery page.

South City Masters Swimming swim at the Lloyd Elsemore Swimming pool located on Sir Lloyd Drive in Pakuranga, Auckland. We have 3 sessions per week of 1 hour duration each. Monday evening from 7pm to 8pm, Wednesday evening from 7pm to 8pm and Sunday morning from 8am to 9am.
