Breaststroke Clinic
I'm finally getting this underway
and have scheduled dates. I will be running a breaststroke clinic on
Sundays through the month of September. Four sessions are planned but if
each session runs too much over time then we will go to a fifth
session. Here is what is being covered:
Week 1: Body position, arm pull (this may run into week 2)
Week 2: Kick
Week 3: Breathing and timing
Week 4: Individual technique analysis and key drills for each individual
Tentatively
we will run this on the 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd (and quite possibly
30th) September. Assuming we have access to the leisure pool again by
the 2nd Sept we will be holding the sessions there. I'm expecting each
session to take 1 hr15 so we will be starting a little early so we can
still be out by 9am, that is, the sessions will run from 7.45am to 9am.
Over coffee I have some really good video clips to show that will help
illustrate what you are learning.
There is NO COST for this clinic.
If you are keen to do this clinic please contact me via the 'view my complete profile'
link on the home page of the blog (once you've clicked on this link
there is an email link on the left) and let me know you are intending to
come as I need to have an idea of numbers.
Diving Coaching
On Sunday 2nd September Avy will be coaching diving for the last 15 minutes
of the session i.e. during the relays. This will be very valuable for
anyone thinking of competing but is unsure about diving, and also anyone
who simply wishes to improve their diving. If you want to do the
breaststroke clinic and the diving, no problemo, remind my on the
day and I will make sure you get to Avy on time and I will catch you up
later on anything breaststroky that you have missed. You can do both.
Next Club Night
This is to be on the 5th September.
Because we missed August's night we are having 'swimmers choice' night
on the 5th. There will be a 25, 50 and 100m and you can choose what
stroke to do. If there is time we will run 200m also but no promises on
that one as it will depend on how much time we have after the hundreds.
Special Olympics
This is on 30th September from 1.30pm to 5.30pm. Just a reminder that if you can help with timekeeping, recording or anything at all then please get your name to John T.

URGENT - Pool closed tonight
This is to confirm that the Lloyd Elsmore Pool has been closed by the Pool Management due to a sudden death there.
Accordingly there will be no Swimming Sessions tonight Wednesday the 15 August 2012
Swimming as normal on Sunday 19th August.
And now, on a more positive note - a word from Te Awamutu Masters
"It must be the season for chocolate fish meets! Attached is the advertising flyer and entry form for the Te Awamutu Masters choc fish meet. This will be held at the Te Awamutu Events Centre on 1 October from 6-9pm. All welcome!" End message.
You may notice the flyers are not attached at all. That is in the interest of getting the message out about tonight in a timely manner. To post docs up I need to scan them and save them as jpegs (you can't upload docs to Blogger), which won't do you any good anyway since you won't be able to download them. So......if you want the info and entry docs email me and I will email the docs to you. Although it is on a Monday it sounds like a fun meet and Te Awamutu isn't far to go.

Expressions of Interest Please
Firstly, apologies to
Peter Lane who was left off the list of birthdays for the month. If I wasn't
already sacked for being late then I certainly am now for that bungle. I wonder
if the sacking comes with a golden handshake. I hope so. I guess though that at
least it wasn't an Olympic event that I forgot to enter him in. Peter's
birthday is on the 23rd so put it in your diary and send him a message.
The North Island Short
Course Champs are on the 5th and 6th October in Hastings. Angela T is looking
into transportation options and so we need to know whether you are thinking of
going to this swim meet. Angela will have a sheet by the pool this week asking
for interest in attending. We are just looking for names and whether you would
like to go down as part of the club and carpool to Hastings and whether
you would prefer to go down in private cars or, if enough people were
interested whether you would like to go down in a van.
The cost for private car
depends on how many people are in it, but for 4 people in a car it will cost
approximately $50.00 and if enough people want to go down as a group the van
will cost about $65.00 each if there are 10 people. You will need to organise
your own accommodation but that might be easier to plan once you know if you
are able to share a ride down with someone else.
Please put your name on
the list this week if you are planning on going to Hastings.
